Welcome to the first weekly Daily Download Remix Re-Up, a selection of the best mixes we’ve been sent over the last few days. These aren’t a pile of lazy beats added to acapella, these are reinterpretations of varying tempos and styles. Let us know what you think of the tracks below
The Drums – ‘Forever And Ever, Amen (Raffertie Refix)’
22 year old producer and protegee of Mary Ann Hobbs, Raffertie has been honing his remix skills on the likes of Franz and Wild Beasts before turning his attention to 2010’s most hyped new band.
Sia – ‘Clap Your Hands (Diplo Mix)’
Grammy-nominated, Zero-7 collaborating songwriter Sia + Philly DJ pioneer and all-round Twitter maniac Diplo = No-brainer. Clap your hands and say fuck yeah for the new addition to your bank holiday soundtrack. Sia’s European tour comes to the UK on May 27th as she play’s London’s Roundhouse – get tickets here.
Headman – ‘Fluctuation’ (Thee Loving Remix By Tim Goldsworthy)
Swiss techno whizz Headman is releasing his new album, ‘1923’, on his own label Relish on May 3rd. Featuring guests from The Beta Band and Yello it’s another disco-infused classic and to mark the occasion a Tim Goldsworthy mix of the closing track ‘Fluctuation’, which features one of the most walkabout bass lines I’ve heard in a while.
Antena – ‘Camino Del Sol (Todd Terje Remix)’
Going balearic for a bit, this Todd Terje take on the brilliant Isabelle Antena from 1982 is vaguely ‘La Ritournelle’ and utterly blissed out. It’s the opening track of disc two of ‘Todd Terje – Remaster Of The Universe’ a compilation out on Permanent Vacation (home to the excellent Tensnake) on May 24th. And yes, he can justify the title.
David Holmes – ‘The Ballad Of Sarah & Jack (Geese Remix)’
Bent strings, Eastern vibes (in a Bonobo kind of way) and random voices make up this Geese remix of ‘The Ballad Of Sarah & Jack’ from David Holmes’ forthcoming best-of ‘The Dogs Are Parading’. The album features three new tracks and a Kevin Shields remix of ‘Living Room’ and is out already on Universal. Geese have worked with Hot Chip and Robert Wyatt and their online gaff is here.
Marina & The Diamonds – ‘I Am Not A Robot (Clock Opera Remix)
Finally, one non-exclusive track. This has swept round the net faster than the word ‘bigotgate’ and for good reason.
What’s the best remix you’ve heard this week?
