Who fancies a 14-minute long track inspired by the cycle of grief? Wait, come back, it's better than it sounds. Oxford's math/post-rock brainiacs Spring Offensive have written a one-track concept record inspired by psychiatrist Elisabeth Kubler-Ross' 'On Death And Dying' and structured it around the various states following loss: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. It's called 'Dreams About Monsters' and it's a twisting behemoth of a track that can be downloaded, along with a thorough explanation by the band, right here.

Spring Offensive

Orchestral post-rockers Seven Saturdays popped up a beautifully-shaped blip on my radar back in April (when we gave away their track 'Secret Things') so it's great to see them return in remixed form today. This choral epic was crafted by M83 collaborator Morgan Grace Kibby who also trades under the name White Sea. Think Enya fronting Enigma but a hundred times more cool. I just wish the tune was about fifty times longer.

Finally, The Drums sent out a new freebie this week and it's business as usual from the chisel-cheeked four.

Elsewhere on the net:
Grinderman flayed their 'Heathen Child' track down to its edited bones and threw it to the blogger pack this week. Devour the sadly Fripp-less version at any number of places indexed here.
