1. The Gaslight Anthem – ‘American Slang’
Being a Jersey girl, I have to give props to The Gaslight Anthem, one of the best things to come out of the Garden State in the past few years. The band’s third album (of the same title) is due out in June – and you can watch some behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the album over on YouTube.

2. David Guetta (feat. Fergie and LMFAO) – ‘Gettin’ Over You (Thomas Gold Remix)’
No one really does dance music like David Guetta does. Throw in Fergie and rappers LMFAO, and then remix it all, and you’ve got one sick track.

3. Julian Casablancas – ‘Dancing In the Dark (Live)’
It’s a rip from a live performance in St. Louis, so the quality isn’t great. But if you’d like to hear the Strokes man take on The Boss, here’s your chance.

4. The Virgins – ‘Rich Girls (Le Castle Vania Remix)’
This NYC-based trio’s self-titled debut album was one of the best releases in 2008, and Le Castle Vania’s remix of ‘Rich Girls’ translates frontman Donald Cumming’s howling vocals into a dancefloor filler.

5. Hugo – ‘Bread & Butter’
This newcomer from New York sings “gonna run my finger, oh down your spine” and “gonna spread you like butter” in such a smooth and sultry way that it will certainly make you melt. And on an entirely different note, you can also find his cover of ’99 Problems’ by Jay-Z on iTunes.

6. Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin – ‘Sink / Let It Sway’
Not only do they have an awesome band name, but they’ve got a new album (produced by Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla) due out in August called ‘Let It Sway.’ Head over to the Polyvinyl website for a free download of the album’s first single.

7. Suckers – ‘A Mind I Knew’
Here’s the second track released from their debut album, ‘Wild Smile’ (due out in June). The band’s frontman Quinn Walker revealed that the song is a “bedtime story for adults,” so download it and test it out for yourselves.

8. Rad Omen – ‘Rad Anthem’
This song doesn’t necessarily have catchy lyrics to sing along to, but it’s got a hilarious music video. Check out Ronald McDonald, Colonel Sanders, the Burger King and Jack Box having a night out on the town with drugs, strippers and a cameo from Wendy.

9. Big K.R.I.T. – ‘Children Of the World’
An exciting new emcee/producer from Mississippi, Big K.R.I.T. has a mixtape out (‘K.R.I.T. Wuz Here’), which you can download in full, and for free, over at DJBooth.net. K.R.I.T. (which stands for “King Remembered in Time,”) also runs a Multi-Records and is a member of the rap group The Alumni.

10. Dada Trash Collage – ‘In Season’
So this duo is drawing a hell of a lot of comparisons to Animal Collective on the blogosphere, which is a good thing musically. They’ve got so much going on in this song that it takes a few listens to really get into it, but it’s well worth it.
