After severing off into various side projects, The Killers have finally returned as a whole band. Currently writing their follow-up album to 2008's 'Day & Age', they've been playing a few live shows recently to make sure they're still on our radar.
Last night, they headlined the first of the three nights of Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, making their first big UK festival appearance in nearly two years. Despite rumours that they'd showcase some new material there, it was a pretty cut-and-dried setlist of old songs. It was a great show - just a bit disappointing that we didn't get to hear any new stuff.
However, the band also played two tiny warm-up shows at London's Scala venue (which apparently sold out in six minutes) a few nights ago, and they unveiled one new tune for those lucky enough to have snagged tickets. Check out 'The Rising Tide' below.
Brandon doesn't seem to have worked out how to sing the chorus in tune yet, bless him, but 'The Rising Tide' sounds like a belter all the same, cut from the same anthemic cloth as 'When You Were Young' but powered by an uber-'80s synth riff that wouldn't sound out of place on 'Hot Fuss'. What do you make of it?
