Hear The Smashing Pumpkins' Compelling New Track 'Drum + Fife' - NME Exclusive

'Drum + Fife' is the fourth track from the band’s forthcoming album ‘Monuments To An Elegy’, out December 8. The band's eighth album was recorded in Chicago and Tommy Lee plays drums on every track. Billy Corgan was surprised that 'Drum + Fife' became a single but by the sounds of it, it'll become an anthem for fans - and a live favourite. Here's Corgan with more info: [quote]'Drum + Fife' was originally a folk song. We really had a problem getting it off its almost dour Irish balladeer aspect. And I must give a lot of credit to Tommy Lee, because he’s the one who turned the corner.

Queen: 20 Things You Probably Never Knew About 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

39 years ago this week, Queen's ‘Bohemian Rhapsody' - a masterful, if ludicrous, six-minute suite of operatic cock-rock about a lad who’s killed someone, sold his soul to Beelzebub and wants to know if Scaramouche can do the Fandango - hit number 1 in the UK singles chart, where it then stayed for nine weeks. It was a mammoth undertaking for a band about to become one of the biggest in the world – and these are the facts.

Ressurecting their caustic sound for a 2015 tour, the news has had a massive reaction. NME's Andy Welch spoke to Bell and Mark Gardener about the comeback, and whether there's new material on the horizon... How's it feel to be back? Andy Bell: "I'm buzzing. It's going to be really cool." Mark Gardener: "Sitting on this news has been torture.

Interpol Have Been Trapped In A Snowstorm For 40 Hours And Their Tweets Are Amazing

Poor Interpol. Currently on tour in the US, indie's favourite sharp-suited gloom-bringers have now been stuck in New York province Buffalo for almost two full days now, with only social media, dry snacks and a big bottle of vodka to stave off maddening cabin fever. Needless to say, the tweets have been pretty incredible to behold. How's it all gonna end? In the office, we're torn between an 'Alive!' situation - cannibalism - and a last-ditch rescue from mustachioed, mysterious former bassist Carlos D, storming in from the cold to return them to civilization.
