1. The Streets – ‘Cyberspace and Reds’ mixtape
Mike Skinner and co. released a new mixtape online, which you can now get for free – no iPhone or canned soup required. This is Skinner’s “final ever recorded rap”, so get it while you can. Preview the first track below, and grab the rest of the mixtape over at thefader.com.
2. Lykke Li – ‘I Follow Rivers’ (Dave Sitek Remix)
Jane’s Addiction/TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek has produced this jazzed up remake of Lykke Li’s latest single, and it’s certainly the best remix around the web this week. You can find it on the ‘I Follow Rivers’ single, due out later this month (along with remixes from Subliminal Kid and Van Rivers).
3. Datarock – ‘Catcher In The Rye’
Those Datarock dudes are clever. They’re releasing a photo/music/video-filled USB drive, which comes inside a diamond-shaped toy (a “data-rock”, if you will). Along with this gem of a product, they’re giving away a free download of their new song, ‘Catcher In The Rye’. The band are calling it “the most extravagant single in history” – so give it a listen and see if you agree.
4. Exlovers – ‘Moth-Eaten Memories’
Exlovers will be releasing their new single, ‘Blowing Kisses’, on March 7th through Young & Lost Club. It comes with this lovely b-side, which you can also download for free now. The band are currently recording their debut album in Wales with Demian Castellanos and Jimmy Robertson (Florence and the Machine, Big Pink), and it’s expected to be released later this year. You can catch them on a UK headline tour this month, kicking off in Manchester.
5. Miles Kane – ‘Kingcrawler’ (live at RAK Studios)
If you “like” Mr. Kane over on his Facebook page, you can download a free mp3 of him performing ‘Kingcrawler’ live at RAK Studios. His single ‘Come Closer’ will be out on February 21st, and he’ll be heading out on a headline solo tour this February, followed by a support slot with Beady Eye in March.
6. Cat’s Eyes – ‘Not A Friend’
As we impatiently await the new Horrors album, we’ve been gifted with some new music from frontman Faris Badwan. In a side project, he’s teamed up with Canadian opera singer/musician Rachel Zeffira for a band they’re calling Cat’s Eyes. They’ll be releasing a debut EP at the end of February and a self-titled full-length album this April through Polydor. Stop by their official website for a free download of ‘Not A Friend’.

7. I’m From Barcelona – ‘Get In Line’
‘Forever Today’, the new album from this 27-piece Swedish indie pop band, is due out on March 23rd. You can get the single ‘Get In Line’ on iTunes now, along with remixes from Montag and Flairs. The feel-good song of the week, for sure.
8. The Chapman Family – ‘All That’s Left To Break’
Here’s a free track from The Chapman Family (who are currently on tour with The Joy Formidable). It won’t be on their debut album, ‘Burn Your Town’ (due out March 7th), and is currently only available over at the band’s Facebook page. While you’re at it, take a look at the explicit, uncensored version of their recent ‘Anxiety’ promo video below (warning: it’s got some nudity, if that’s your kinda thing).
9. The Feelies – ‘Should Be Gone’
We haven’t heard new music from The Feelies since ‘Time For A Witness’ was released in 1991, so the announcement of the new album ‘Here Before’, due out this April, is exciting news for Feelies fans. This track, recorded at Water Music in their home state of New Jersey, proves that despite their long hiatus, they’re still sounding just as good as they did 19 years ago.
10. Munchi feat. M.I.A. – ‘Murder Sound VIP’
Meet Munchi, a 21-year-old Dominican producer from Rotterdam, Netherlands. He recently teamed up with music royalty M.I.A. for the title track on his debut EP, ‘Murda Sound’, which is out now on T&A Records. Word is he’s currently working on a remix EP and an album, so we’ll definitely be hearing more from him soon.
