The White Stripes returned to the live stage on Friday night (February 20) after two years to bid farewell to the long-running US talk show 'Late Night With Conan O' Brien'.

The guy-gal duo - who have a history with O'Brien's show having performed a week-long residency back in 2003 - played classic track 'We're Going To Be Friends', though it wasn't a standard reading of the song.

Meg strummed guitar and joined Jack on vocals in a gently sombre acoustic version. In the final verse Jack even appears to be close to tears.

Host Conan O' Brien now moves from New York to Los Angeles to take over 'The Tonight Show' from Jay Leno.
