Julian Casablancas announced a new album today (March 6) with a teaser trailer that, in two minutes of scrappy VHS visuals and fast and furious song snippets, packed more questions than answers. This much we know: it’s to be released on the Strokes man’s own Cult Records imprint, it’s “coming soon” and will feature a pretty broad spread of sounds, if the trailer – which begins with a dark Cramps-style garage dirge before segueing into a furious hardcore punk melee and weirdo arcade noises – is anything to go by.

The future of BBC Three is up in the air today with the news that BBC director general Tony Hall is expected to announce he is axing the channel as part of a money saving scheme. A campaign to save the channel, famous for being a breeding ground for new comedy, music festival coverage and undercover documentaries, is already circulating with parallels being drawn between this situation and that of BBC 6Music.
