You will, by now, have seen the new video for The Last Shadow Puppets' 'Everything You've Come To Expect', shot on steadycam on location at what looks like a blissful slice of the Malibu coastline, and featuring dancer Michelle Dawley Eliot cavorting with Turner and Kane, who are both buried in the sand.
But did you know there are a whole bunch of almost identical videos?
A 20-year-old film student from Amsterdam called Maarten noticed the multiple videos when clicking on host site Eycte.it a few times, so decided to splice nine of them altogether and stick it up on YouTube. Here are the results:
‘Everything You’ve Come To Expect’ is definitely the most stoned-sounding, off-kilter piece of music Alex Turner has ever released. The lyrics are overtly sexual (“Hotel room Holy Bible / Hotel room free love revival”; “Four horsemen in a one horse race”; “I just can’t get the thought of you and him out of my head”), while the song sounds like it’s taken inspiration from ‘Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!’ by The Beatles – all fairground weirdness and Alice Through The Looking Glass strings. Here's the official video.
