Watch The New 'Simpsons' Credit Title Sequence

The opening credits of 'The Simpsons' have been overhauled for the first time in almost 20 years, in a bid to mark the switch to HD.

At least that's the PR speil. In reality, Simpsons fans have been treated to many weird and fantastical variations of the opening credits. The 'couch gag', for example, has in some cases been extended for an extra 30 seconds - you can watch every single one here.

Still, the new sequence is likely to appeal to serious fans because it's packed with references to previous episodes in. A few seconds in there's a shot of Jebediah Springfield's head being sawn off - a flash-back to the eighth episode of the show, which aired all the way back in 1990.

Meanwhile, at 0.28 the 'Maggie conveyor belt' bit has been tweaked to reference three other episodes (look at the products that go past). How many others can you spot?
