So we got sent some Beatles covers today as various artists cash in on the hundredth wave of Beatlemania and it got us talking about the best interpretations of the band. Check this lot out and comment below with your own and don't forget to grab a free MP3 from Micah P Hinson at the bottom.

One of my top covers would be Elliott Smith's version of 'Because', which makes the finale of 'American Beauty' the powerful climax it is.

(While we're at it his versions of 'Yer Blues', 'Blackbird', I'm So Tired' and loads more aint half bad - all on youtube.)

Booker T & The MG's' 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' is pretty good too..

As is Ray Charles' take on 'Eleanor Rigby', which stays true to the original but makes it completely a Ray Charles tune at the same time:

These are the office favourites...

James McMahon: The Wedding Present's 'Getting Better':

Hamish MacBain: Oasis' 'I Am The Walrus' (plus every other Oasis Beatles cover):

Emily Mackay: The Breeders' 'Happiness Is A Warm Gun':

Rob Howard: Michael Jackson's 'Come Together':

Nat Cramp: Sonic Youth's 'Within You Without You'

Joe Frost: Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds' 'Let It Be'

Micah P Hinson's version of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' is on his new record, 'All Dressed Up And Smelling Of Strangers', out next week. Get it here.
