Between now and January 4 – ‘the street date’ of Radar’s annual January takeover issue – we’re going to be counting down the artists that didn’t quite make our 20 big guns in the mag.

First up are Sheffield’s Starlings, a indie band with synths and without fear to use them. They like Talk Talk, Heaven 17 and hometown heroes the Human League, and we like them.

We’ve even got an exclusive remix of their new single ‘Weight In Gold’ from synthstep supremo Starkey for yous:

In the new issue – 20 bands you need to hear in 2011
