What is it about Glaswegians and aesthetics? Most bands are happy to just present you with their music, desperate that it’ll suffice and make them their millions. There’s a whole bunch of Scots bands, though, stretching from Lloyd Cole And The Commotions to The Yummy Fur to Franz Ferdinand and maybe even The Amazing Snakeheads (certainly their bovver boy frontman Dale), who take a whole lot of other stuff into account: haircuts, reading material, what make of vintage record player you have (Dansette, always Dansette), where you drink, how high your trousers are from your shoes, what shoes you’re even wearing. Falling in love with these bands is falling in love with an entire worldview, and that’s kind of what I think Catholic Action might be throwing our way too.

I slept on their track L.U.V. for too long initially. I shouldn’t have, because it’s a beauty. They very obviously love their glam (fine by me), as well as New York Dolls (ditto) and probably all those bands above. Most of all though it’s just got a killer refrain – catchy-as-hell and the kind you just can’t blag your way into stumbling upon. Here’s the video of the track, which we’re premiering:
