New Music Of The Day: Nap Eyes – Mixer (Live)

One of the best bands I saw at SXSW earlier this month, Nova Scotia’s Nap Eyes have just announced their first UK tour (dates below, including Brighton’s Great Escape).

You don’t wanna miss them: purveyors of beatific, sun-drenched US roadtrip tunes, they’re a laid-back, summery affair at first glance. Dig deeper though and there’s much to get lost in. Not to get too technical on you, but the interplay between the four of them onstage belies anything that might make them seem simplistic. Subtle and intricate, they’re an impressive outfit, and in my mind they already rival those other great up-n-coming summer kingpins Whitney when it comes to the good time vibes. And then you get to frontman Nigel Chapman, owner of one of the most beautiful voices I’ve heard in years. He’s a fucking great singer, and an impressive lyricist to boot.
