Uncle Acid

Cambridgeshire’s shadiest psych-rock outfit Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats are shaping up to release the follow-up to 2011 debut album ‘Blood Lust’. ‘Mind Control’ will be out next month and already sounds promising, with recent single ‘Poison Apple’ rocking out pungently – and now here’s the next taste. ‘Follow The Leader’ retreats from ‘Poison Apple”s doom-blues attack to drift woozily around a strung-out and looped ‘Pinball Wizard’ power chord for six dazed minutes. One-third song to two-thirds instrumental fractal trip, it off-sets those elongated blasts with twinkling folk guitar to give Tame Impala a run for their money in the glazed stoner stakes. Turn on, tune in, you know the rest.

Mind Control is released on 15 April on Rise Above Records.
