Radar at CMJ 2011

All this week Radar is planning on getting fat on sliders and Wendys and weird Snickers bars that are only available in America. Why? Because we’re at CMJ.

It’s New York City’s version of SXSW, basically (or The Great Escape/Camden Crawl/Liverpool Music Week/In The City), where roughly 1000 bands come to play the Big Apple’s venues and tout themselves to the industry bigwigs like true musical prostitutes.

We’re into pimping here at Radar, so we put together our own showcase night at the bash, featuring Friends, King Krule, Fidlar, Bleeding Knees Club (below) and some super special guests we’ll be spilling the beans on later in the week.

So far the highlight of my trip has been throwing my passport away on the flight and having to go through the on-plane rubbish to get it back again, while the airline staff looked on like I was a complete idiot. Loved that.

Anyway, I’mma go and get some food and check out Exitmusic (above) and some other bands tonight. A couple of us writers will be updating you throughout the week, so stick around, and we’ll also be doing a massive round-up of the festival in the November 5 issue of NME.

Anybody we should check out while we’re here?
