Most indie couples are way too cutesy for their own good. Not Hooded Fang though. Nah, the core of Toronto fourpiece, April Aliermo and Daniel Lee, appear to have sealed their genius by, uh, splitting up.

Hooded Fang

I was gonna say 'not that you'd know that by listening to their new album', called 'Tosta Mista'. But then I actually listened to the lyrics to the wilfully scornful 'ESP':

Still though, as the song and album prove, despite their relationship crashing the duo (and therefore the band) sound in rude health. 'Tosta Mista' - it's Portugese for 'toasted ham & cheese' - is their second long player, after 2010's 'Album', and it's got that surfy, west coast vibe going right through it, along with just a little heartbreak. For it's UK release this March, it's been snapped up by Full Time Hobby.

Here's their March-bound single 'Clap':

And here's a load of London dates when they hit the UK next month:

London Cargo with My Sad Captains/Still Corners (February 8)
London Old Blue Last (headline show) (9)
London Barfly with Eagulls/History Of Apple Pie (11)
London White Heat at Madame JoJo’s with Dale Earnhardt Jnr Jnr (14)
