Remember Dave, the drummer from the Futureheads? Yeah you do! He was the one with the beard! Played the drums! Wore a suit!

Well, now he's back – singing! – with another band. And he's joined by Neil Bassett (ex of Golden Virgins). They're called, appropriately enough, target="_blank">Hyde & Beast.

They make music that isn't a million miles from fellow northeast melody-freaks Field Music, funnily enough, although their target="_blank">Facebook officially (whatever that means these days) states that they're taking direct influence from: Beach Boys, Captain Beefheart, Velvet Underground, Al Green, White Denim, T-Rex.

Spot the odd one out there.

This week they uploaded the video for their first official video, 'Never Come Back' (out on August 8 on their own label, Tail Feather Records):

Weirdly, the band's first bit of press came last month, when they had a target="_blank">little known singer called Lee Mavers play a secret support set (under the name Lee Velcro) at their Manchester Deaf Institute gig. I'm betting they'll release a new album before he does.
