‘Middle Child Syndrome’, which they release properly on November 7, is way more taut than it’s predecessor, revolving around a faintly Motown shuffle while also managing to still seem suitably weird. I particularly like the middle eight, where it goes all Beach Boysey, if that is a word, and they sing a line about wanting different hair and being square.
Just as interesting is their take on Nirvana’s (ha, only kidding – Shocking Blue’s) ‘Love Buzz’, in which singer Peter Boggon sounds uncannily like Robbie from The Big Pink.
They play a few shows in the coming days. Those shows are:
Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh (November 5)
Fat Cat Bar, Stoke on Trent (6)
The Macbeth, London (8)
