One of the bands who stood out for me at CMJ recently were this lot, Little Racer.

Hailing from Brooklyn, the threepiece make me think of a more tropical-sounding Surfer Blood. Obviously I know the West Palm Beach mob sound pretty tropical anyway, but LR are seemingly all about making hazy melodies and Beach Boys choruses.

And there's not a lot wrong with that, provided you do it well. The NYC trio's debut single, out now on Young And Lost Club, is a great start, with the aptly-titled 'Split For The Coast' (video below) my favourite song of theirs thus far - not least for the bass-led waltz bit about two thirds in:

The band hit London for their first shows here this week, kicking off proceedings at The Social tonight. Full dates as follows:

The Social (November 28)
Shacklewell Arms (29)
Silver Bullet (December 2)
Electricity Showrooms (5)
Apothercary Bar (Egg) (8)
Luv Camden (10)
