The Knocks team up with MNEK for chart-busting hit ‘Worship’

NYC production duo The Knocks certainly have friends in high places. On their debut album ’55’ they recruited Carly Rae Jepson and Fetty Wap, and last year they supported Justin Bieber on his European tour, as well as The 1975, Bruno Mars, Ellie Goulding.

Now, they’ve teamed up with hit-maker MNEK for their thumping new single ‘Worship’, which sees the group embrace their pure pop tendencies, and prepares them to fully step into the limelight. Praise be.

Here, in their own words, the duo explain how the barnstorming collaboration came about.

“We started off with just a concept, creating the “can I testify” vocal because we originally thought the idea would turn into the title track. We were on our tour bus in London during the ‘Purpose’ Tour (Bieber) and started building out the track. From there, we sent it over to Sam Harris to see if he could add some gospel flair. Sam loved it and fleshed out the sample-y hook.”

“We then wanted to incorporate R&B vibes in the verses and chorus and sent it over to our boy MNEK who was on his way back to London from LA. He wrote and recorded an amazing topline in a week and we then finished it soon after in NYC. A truly collaborative effort and we think it really captures who The Knocks are.”

‘Worship’ features on the upcoming EP ‘Testify’, out February 3.
