Tomorrow (September 27) sees the second ever Cassette Store Day: a bit like Record Store Day, but with stacks of tape-only releases and reissues to get your hands on. Read founder Jen Long's blog from last year's event if you're still confused. Anyways, to celebrate, feast your eyes on these topical creations from artist Erika Iris Simmons, who creates portraits of pop icons out of cassette and VHS tape, as well as, in the case of the Ian Curtis example below, sheets from magazines and old books. They've been kicking around online for a while now, but still impress. Bonus fact: Simmons had a hand in producing the video for Bruno Mars' 'Just The Way You Are' - but don't hold that against her. Visit iri5 for more.
