Gravity - 5 Things You Need To Know

After what seems like a frankly unfair delay following its preposterously successful release overseas, Gravity - the most talked about cinematic event for quite some time - will hit cinemas this week. At last, we can finally see what all this buzz, fuss and mad critical frothing has been about. The brainchild of Children Of Men and Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuarón, it tells the story of a pair of astronauts (Sandra Bullock and George Clooney - henceforth known as ‘Bulloney’) who get into a pickle while tinkering with the Hubble Space Telescope.

'Star Trek Into Darkness', Benedict Cumberbatch And When To Believe The Hype

You wonder if the title of the new Star Trek movie is almost a joke. It's shot with so much flare you find half the time squinting. No matter. 5 Horribly Funny Cult Horror Movies Chosen By Wampire

Rocky Tinder of Portland garage-synth noiseniks Wampire has assembled a list of his favourite creepy horror movies. SXSW isn’t just about RSVP-ing to endless lists, gorging on breakfast tacos and gawping at the universe’s most exciting new acts. A whole goddamn film festival is also part of the Austin festivities. Think of it as Sundance’s hipper younger brother, with tonnes of off-kilter comedies, independent documentaries and thoughtful features for movie industry types to swoon over. As usual, 2013’s selection contained a host of music-centric movies. I went and had a nose at the best of the bunch.

Tears, diva fits, and more glittery satin than is safe to be held in a contained space. But enough about our backstage office at the NME Awards next week; there’s another awards do on the horizon. Yup, Sunday sees Hollywood’s finest turn out for the Academy Awards. This year there’s no King’s Speech as such, where one film seems anointed to win pretty much everything, leaving us with something like open season. Here’s our picks for who we reckon’s going to win, and who we’d really like to.
