  • Villagers, ‘Becoming A Jackal’. Fronted by achy-voiced troubadour Conor J.O’Brien, these folky balladeers are generating plenty of ‘the next Mumford’ buzz. Due: June 7

  • Stornaway, ‘Beachcomber’s Windowsill’. This Oxford gang bestow the sweetest indie-folk lullabies this side of Noah And The Whale’s ‘Five Years Time’. Due: May 24

  • School Of Seven Bells, ‘Disconnect From Desire’. Reviews Ed Emily Mackay says: Though they’ve attracted cries of “fookin’ Enya” from the NME office, SVIIB’s debut ‘Alpinisms’ was one of the highlights of 2008 for me. Recent free download ‘Babelonia’ suggests their second will be just as luscious. Due: July 12

  • Kele, ‘The Boxer’. The Bloc Party frontman’s debut solo album is dividing opinion in the NME office, but it’s unquestionably a brave change of pace. Due: June 12

  • Pendulum, ‘Immersion’. Yes, it’s overblown. Yes it’s cheesy. Yes it’s downright bloody awful. But let’s face it: come festival time, these frankly ludicrous songs will be inescapable. Due: May 24

  • The Gaslight Anthem, ‘American Slang’. It’s not as good as ‘The 59 Sound’, but there’s still just enough shouty anthems on the New Jersey mob’s new album to keep the faithful happy. Due: June 14
