  • Nirvana's 'Nevermind' is set to be re-issued in a spanking new super deluxe edition on September 19th, so to celebrate we've gone a gallery of our favourite re-issues. What: Primal Scream- 'Screamadelica' (20th anniversary reissue). Why? Bumper pack tin, remastered with help from My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields.

  • What: Talking Heads- 'Stop Making Sense' (Special New Edition). Why? Contains all the songs from the classic Jonathan Demme concert film, including the Tom Tom Club classic 'Genius Of Love'.

  • What: Sonic Youth- 'Goo' (Deluxe Edition). Why? An extra CD of demos, b-sides and previously unreleased Sonic goodness. Any excuse to hear multiple versions of 'Tunic (Song For Karen)' is okay by us.

  • What? Sly & The Family Stone- 'There’s a Riot Going On' (Deluxe Edition). Why? A classic album gets a sonic spruce that's much better than the original CD re-issue. Also contains alternate versions of those templates of funk.

  • What: Serge Gainsbourg- ‘L’historie De Melody Nelson' (vinyl reissue with book). Why? For that Jane Birkin cover and a 40-page printed booklet with an old English interview with Gainsbourg and liner notes from Twisted Nerve founder Andy Votel.

  • What: Rolling Stones- 'Exile On Main Street' (Super Deluxe Edition). Why? A dream of a re-issue with 10 never-released tracks, a book with photos from the 'Exile' era, the double vinyl album in triple gatefold sleeve, 4 postcards, and a DVD containing excerpts from the legendary Cocksucker Blues.

  • What: REM- 'Murmur' (Deluxe Edition). Why? REM's statement of intent is remastered and paired with a previously unreleased live show from Larry's Hideaway in Toronto, Canada performed on July 9, 1983.

  • What: Neu!- Vinyl Box Set. Why? The box includes all three of the duo's studio albums, previously unreleased album 'Neu! '86' and 'Neu! '72' a previously unreleased 18-minute live maxi-single. There's also a 36-page book, a T-shirt and a stencil of the Neu! logo.

  • What? Pavement- 'Slanted & Enchanted' (Luxe & Reduxe edition). Why? Our favourite Pavement album re-issued with the 'Watery Domestic' EP, studio outtakes, two John Peel radio sessions from 1992, and a live recording from Brixton Academy.

  • What: The Cure- 'Seventeen Seconds' (Deluxe Edition). Why? A remastering of the classic, plus a second disc of demos to live versions of nearly the entire album in great sound quality and sleeve notes with great vintage photos.

  • What: Patti Smith- 'Horses' (Legacy Edition/ Remastered). Why? The remastered classic plus a second CD of the 30th anniversary performance at the Meltdown festival.

  • What: Nico- 'The Frozen Borderline'. Why? Nico's two classic albums ('The Marble Index' and 'Desertshore') plus a wealth of demos, previously unreleased material and lovingly put together liner notes.

  • What: Nick Cave- 'Henry’s Dream' (2010 Digital Remaster). Why? A great remaster but also worth getting for the 38-minute documentary, live versions of 'The Good Son', 'The Mercy Seat', 'The Ship Song', 'The Carny' and 'I Had A Dream, Joe' and three promo videos.

  • What: New Order- 'Low-Life'. Why?A glorious remastering of the electro-pop classic, plus another disco of eight non-album singles, B-sides and remixes. Plus all that lovely artwork.

  • What: Neil Young- 'On the Beach'. Why? After years of not making it onto CD, in 2003 Neil Young's lost classic finally made it. No extras just the full, unadulterated album. Which was more than enough.

  • What: Marvin Gaye- 'Here My Dear' (Expanded Edition). Why? Gaye's alimony classic with added bits left off the original (demo vocals, spoken word bits, longer mixes). Also included 'Ain't It Funny (How Things Turn Around') a posthumously released track undubbed for the first time.

  • What: Kraftwerk- 'The Catalogue'. Why? 8 albums digitally remastered, plus rare photos and liner notes. Extra points if you got the German version too ('Der Katalog').

  • What: Jesus & Mary Chain- 'Psychocandy' (Remastered). Why? Remastered and lovingly restored to its original state thanks to the removal of the 'Some Candy Talking' bonus track.

  • What: Jeff Buckley- 'Grace' (Legacy edition). Why? For the second CD of unreleased material and rarities, plus a DVD of promo videos and an expanded version of the original Grace documentary.

  • What: Bruce Springsteen- 'Born To Run' (30th anniversary Edition). Why? Personally supervised by Bruce Springsteen, the box set includes The Boss and E Street Band's legendary 1975 concert at the Hammersmith Odeon, the documentary Wings for Wheels: The Making of Born to Run and a 48 page booklet.

  • What: Galaxie 500- 'On Fire' (Deluxe). Why? Limited to 2000 copies, this classic dreampop album was re-issued with a second CD of Peel sessions, covers and alternate takes.

  • What: Dennis Wilson- 'Pacific Ocean Blue'/ 'Bambu' (The Caribou Sessions). Why? This lost classic finally got issued on CD in 2008. Plus it included the unreleased 'Bambu' sessions.

  • What: David Bowie- 'Hunky Dory' (1990 reissue with extra tracks). Why? The Dame's classic, reissued with demos and extra tracks.

  • What:The Monks - 'Black Monk Time'. Why? Dubbed by Julian Cope as a "lost classic", this garage rock cornerstone was finally re-issued in 2009 to squeals of pleasure.

  • What: Beastie Boys - 'Paul's Boutique - 20th Anniversary Edition'. Why? The "Commemorative Package' included an eight foot long poster, but the basic package was awesome enough, with extra tracks and a commentary on the tracks from the Boys themselves.

  • What: The Ramones- 'The Ramones (Remastered And Expanded)' Why? A reminder of one of the greatest punk band's greatest album, this lavish reissue featured eight new tracks.

  • What: The Stooges- 'Raw Power (Deluxe Legacy Edition)' Why? An extra live concert from their prime (1973), a documentary DVD, and a batch of outtakes and rarities made this very much one to own.
