  • The calm before the storm. After forming in the late 1980s, The Charlatans former band members include guitarist John Baker (1989–1991), vocalist Baz Ketley (1989) and keyboardist Rob Collins (1989–1996), who died in a car accident during the recording of their fifth album and also served time in prison in relation to an armed robbery.

  • 6.45pm: At the NME Signing Tent, where several hundred fans formed a queue to meet their indie heroes. Music fans can meet bands ranging from Klaxons and Foals to Marina and Paramore at the Reading/Leeds festival signing tent this coming weekend (August 28 - 29).
