  • The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather leader Jack White has donated $170,000 (£102,000) to help restore a Detroit baseball park he used to play in. The guitarist recently made the donation to aid the restoration of Clark Park in south west Detroit, reports The Detroit News. The guitarist's former coach, Morris 'Mo' Blackwell Jr., told the newspaper that he had shown promise as a baseball player. Pic: PA Photos

  • Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has emailed Lily Allen after the singer posted a MySpace blog urging her fellow musicians to take a stand against illegal file-sharing.   • Calvin Harris and La Roux are set for a 'best of 2009' gig this winter. The pair will play T4's Stars Of 2009 show on November 29 at London's Earls Court.   • Kanye West has issued a second apology after invading the stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards this week (September 13). The rapper-producer objected after the singer won the Best Female Video award for 'You Belong To Me' ahead of Beyonce's 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)'.

  • Jay-Z played a relatively intimate gig in London on Thursday night (September 17).   • Green Day have spoken following the official opening of the musical 'American Idiot', based on their 2004 album of the same name. The production is being staged at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and, following several preview nights, it had its opening night on Wednesday (September 16). "I had no concerns," frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explained. "I was interested and flattered to meet [director] Michael Mayer.   • Jon Bon Jovi has joined ex-Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic in condemning the makers of 'Guitar Hero' over their use of Kurt Cobain. In new game 'Guitar Hero 5' the late Nirvana frontman Cobain is able to appear singing other acts' songs, including those by Bon Jovi. Grohl and Novoselic had slammed Activision, the makers of the game, for allowing Cobain's character to be used in such a way.

  • Ozzy Osbourne will release his autobiography on October 1. Talking via his website Ozzy.com, the Black Sabbath frontman said the book would be a frank account of his life.
