  • Robbie Williams finally looks set to marry his girlfriend Ayda Field on Saturday (August 7). The singer is said to have only told friends and family of the news in the past week. The couple will hold their ceremony on the small island of Santa Catalina, roughly 20 miles off the California coast, with only a small number of guests invited (The Sun).

  • Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has said he has booked two of the headline acts for next year's festival. He also told BBC News that he has asked U2 to headline the festival on the Friday (June 24) night as the third headliner, though he added that he hasn't received a response from the Irish band yet.

  • Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am has hit out at plans for an album of new Michael Jackson songs to be released in November. The singer, who collaborated with Jackson prior to his June 2009 death, told the Associated Press that he thought it was "disrespectful" for a new 10-song Jackson album of previously-unreleased material to be issued, as the Sony BMG record label are planning to do.

  • Paul McCartney's music is set to feature in the forthcoming series of Glee after the former Beatle wrote to the show's creator to ask to be included. Ryan Murphy, who created the high school-based musical TV show, said that the legendary singer wrote by hand to him to ask if he would consider using his music.

  • Dr. Dre has revealed he is making an instrumental album inspired by the solar system. The rapper and producer explained that the LP will be "my interpretation of what each planet sounds like". "An instrumental album is something I've been wanting to do for a long time," Dr. Dre told Vibe.com.

  • Kings Of Leon have announced the title and release date of their new album. The band have named their fifth record 'Come Around Sundown'. They will release it on October 18 in the UK and October 19 in the US. Sessions for the album took place at New York's Avatar Studios, with the band once again teaming up with producers Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King.

  • Lily Allen has confirmed that she is pregnant. The singer, who is set to take a sabbatical from music, said that she and her partner Sam Cooper were "absolutely delighted" to be expecting. She has recently had a three-month scan for the nipper (The Sun).

  • Klaxons are set to play London's Heaven venue on August 25. The one-off show for Jamie Reynolds and co will take place two days after the band's second album, 'Surfing The Void', is released.

  • A novel based on Manic Street Preachers guitarist Richey Edwards will be out later this year. Richard, out on October 1, has been written by author and journalist Ben Myers, and is a work of fiction based on the facts of Edwards' life. Myers told NME that the book was a "version of a truth" about the life of guitarist and lyricist Edwards, who went missing in 1995 and has not been seen since.

  • Richard Ashcroft pulled his Splendour In The Grass festival appearance in Queensland, Australia after just one song on Sunday (August 1). The singer, who is on his first tour of the country with new outfit the United Nations Of Sound, walked offstage during opening track 'Are You Ready?'.

  • Aretha Franklin has cancelled two free New York shows after breaking two ribs in a fall. The soul legend had been set to play two gigs in Brooklyn, at Wingate Park on August 9 and as part of the Annual Seaside Summer Concert Series on August 12.

  • Lady GaGa has been nominated for 13 categories in the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). The awards, which take place on September 12 at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre, will see the singer go up against the likes of Eminem and Jay-Z in several of the categories, including Video Of The Year (for 'Bad Romance' and 'Telephone'), Best Cinematography and Best Direction.

  • Lady GaGa has said that she takes cocaine "maybe a couple of times a year". However, despite speaking openly about her "occasional" use of the drug, the singer warned her fans not to copy her, saying: "I do not want my fans to ever emulate that or be that way." (Vanity Fair).

  • The Beach Boys' legal representatives have reportedly asked Katy Perry's record label to give Brian Wilson and Mike Love songwriting credits and royalties from her song 'California Gurls'. Perry's song, which features Snoop Dogg, contains elements of The Beach Boys' 1965 hit 'California Girls'.

  • The sun came out for the fourth annual Field Day festival in London’s Victoria Park (July 31). Headed up by Phoenix, who closed the one day event with a Main Stage set that included a multi-coloured light show, the day also saw a set from The Fall, who, helmed by a sports jacket wearing Mark E Smith, played their cover of The Sonics’ 1960s garage classic 'Strychnine'.

  • Alicia Keys married her producer partner Swizz Beatz in Corsica last weekend (July 30-August 1), with guests at the event including U2's Bono and Queen Latifah. The US singer, who recently confirmed she is pregnant, had been spotted sunbathing and swimming just hours before the wedding. Her husband – real name Kaseem Dean – wore a white tuxedo for the ceremony (Daily Mirror).

  • The one 'friend' Kanye West is following on Twitter has admitted that he doesn't like the rapper's music, and hinted that he isn't pleased with the level of attention thrust upon him in recent days. For reasons only known to himself, West chose to follow Steven Holmes, 19, from Coventry, ahead of his other 400,000 followers.
