South By Southwest information: It might not boast as many big-hitters as last year, when even R.E.M. played a set (a lot of bands have cancelled their trips this year because of the credit crunch) but South By Southwest is still the world's foremost destination for discovering new bands. White Lies and Ida Maria will be among the bands pressing the flesh at industry barbecues, as well as playing the odd gig.

Tickets: Tickets range from $275 (£139) for a student, film-only pass to $1050 (£531) for a platinum film, IA and music pass. Check the website for the different prices and registration dates and details.
