Calvin Harris, A$AP Rocky and Cher Lloyd also played well received sets at the Hyde Park event
Rihanna closed London’s Wireless festival last night (July 8) with a set that drew from across her career.
The singer, who appeared almost 40 minutes later than scheduled at the Hyde Park event, played beneath an enormous stage set-up, with two huge pharaohs with glowing red eyes and pyramid-shaped lights at the back.
Her set, which she kicked off with ‘Only Girl In The World’, was heavily rain-affected, something Ri-Ri praised the crowd for putting up with, telling them: “Only in London would you guys stay in the rain”, ironically, the rain stopped just before she played ‘Umbrella’. She closed her set with recent single ‘We Found Love’.
Earlier, Cher Lloyd had opened the event’s Main Stage, in front of a crowd that included Perez Hilton. She was followed by Pitbull, who featured surprise guest Ne-Yo.
A$AP Rocky then delivered a half-hour set on the Pepsi Max stage, drawing heavily from his ‘LiveLoveA$AP’ mixtape and closing on blog favourite ‘Peso’.
Later on, Calvin Harris drew a huge crowd to his headline set in the Pepsi Max tent, which included ‘We Are Your Friends’, ‘Where’s Your Head At’, ‘You Got The Love’, ‘Block Rockin’ Beats’ and ‘We Found Love’.
