Nickelodeon show Kenan & Kel could be getting a sequel, after star Kenan Thompson backs the plan for its return.

This year, the show is celebrating it's 20th anniversary. Based around the friendship of stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, the Kenan & Kel show aired for four seasons from 1996 to 2000.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Thompson said what he misses about the show the most is the people who worked on it. "I miss and love those guys, it was awesome times," he said.

Talking of a prospective comeback, he said: "I wish we could just pick up and do Kenan & Kel: The Grown-Up Years, getting everyone back working together. I feel like it would be an awesome moment for everybody."

Kenan & Kel boasts 62 episodes and one TV movie, with an iconic theme song performed by Coolio. Speaking of the show's success, Mitchell said: "I don’t think any of us knew how big that was going to be, even today I still get that."

Talking of the show's catchphrase 'Who loves Orange Soda?', Mitchell continued to say he is still blown away by how many people remember. "When my wife and I go out to eat, it doesn’t matter what type of restaurant we’re at, whether it’s a five-star restaurant or a burger shack, people go crazy if I don’t get an orange soda.

"And they’re like, ‘Oh, what are you going to drink? Orange soda?’ And they just crack up, but I enjoy it. I’m happy that people enjoy the show and are still drinking orange soda."
