A pilot episode is being made for a ‘Cruel Intention’ TV series

The TV series will pick up 15 years after the end of the film

NBC has ordered a pilot episode for a Cruel Intentions TV series.

The pilot will centre on Bash Casey, the son of the characters played by Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon in the cult teen film, and also feature Kathryn Merteuil, the character played by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The network’s official synopsis for the pilot teases: “Cruel Intentions picks up over 15 years after the hit movie left off.

“It follows the beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey, the son of her brother, who was the late Sebastian Valmont, and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.”

It was reported in October that Roger Kumble, who wrote and directed the original Cruel Intentions film, which was itself based on revered French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos, was writing the TV pilot alongside Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross, the duo behind hit LA stage show The Unauthorized Musical Parody Of Cruel Intentions.

At the time, NBC had ordered the pilot episode’s script but had yet to commit to actually shooting it.
