Action-packed first clip from 'The Wolverine' released - watch
Hugh Jackman's 'X-Men' spin-off opens in cinemas on July 26
The first clip from Hugh Jackman's X-Men spin-off The Wolverine has been released.
The 80-second teaser offers an exciting preview of one of the film's main action sequences: a fight on top of a Japanese bullet train. Scroll down and click 'play' to watch it.
A standalone Wolverine movie has been in the works since 2009, when Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Wrestler) was set to direct. However, Aronofsky later dropped out and was replaced by Walk The Line director James Mangold, who shot the film in Sydney and Japan last year (2012).
According to the official plot synopsis, the film takes Jackman's hero to modern-day Japan, where he "faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed". Alongside Jackman, Famke Janssen reprises her role as Jean Grey from the X-Men films, while the cast also includes Will Yun Lee (Die Another Day) and Svetlana Khodchenkova (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy). The Wolverine is set to open in cinemas on July 26.
Jackman has already made five appearances as Wolverine in X-Men movies, and he's also confirmed for the next instalment, Days Of Future Past, which is due in July 2014.
