Amy Adams has been cast as Lois Lane in the forthcoming Superman reboot, Man Of Steel.

More details are fast emerging about Zack Snyder's superhero adventure. And the latest is news of who will play Clark Kent's iconic love interest.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Snyder revealed that three-time-Oscar nominee Adams had been cast.

"There was a big, giant search for Lois," he said. "For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it."

Describing Lane as a "lynchpin" character in the story, he continued: "It goes back to what I've said about Superman and making him really understandable for today.

"What's really important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so we can understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him."

Adams has recently been seen in The Fighter and Enchanted. She will star opposite Henry Cavill's Superman in Man Of Steel.
