Razorlight and We Are Scientists drummer Andy Burrows has been cast in Ricky Gervais' forthcoming David Brent movie.

Burrows will play the drummer in Brent's band, Foregone Conclusion, and has also written original songs for the film with Gervais, it was announced today.

Titled David Brent: Life On The Road, the film is set 12 years after The Office and follows Brent, now a travelling salesman, as he takes his band on a self-financed UK tour. As well as starring, Gervais is the film's writer-director. The Office's co-creator Stephen Merchant is not involved.

Shooting started today and will continue for the next five weeks at various locations in and around London and Slough. Other cast members include Kevin Bishop, Plebs' Tom Basden and This Is England '90's Jo Hartley. Ben Bailey Smith, who rapped alongside David Brent on his song 'Equality Street', will return as Dom.

David Brent: Life On The Road is set for release in cinemas in August 2016. Gervais recently suggested he was writing original songs for the film with Chris Martin, but there is no mention of the Coldplay frontman in today's announcement.
