Angelina Jolie withdrawal casts doubt over 'Gravity''s future
Actress' decision puts pressure on director Alfonso Cuaron
Angelina Jolie has officially turned down a part in Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, putting the film's production in jeopardy. The makers of the sci-fi film – about a female astronaut lost in space – had been courting Jolie for its lead role.
Producers Warner Brothers have approached replacement A-list actresses, with Deadline.com reporting that Sandra Bullock, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts, Carey Mulligan and Scarlett Johansson have been contacted.
With Gravity's proposed 2012 release date drawing ever closer, Warner Brothers and Alfonso Cuarón’s search for a star goes on.
Jolie is currently writing her own Bosnian war story, and is attached to a Salt sequel, as well as Tim Burton's Maleficent and a Cleopatra biopic.
