Arnold Schwarzennger turns superhero in 'The Governator'
New comic series is based on Arnie's life
Arnold Schwarzenegger's twin roles of action hero and politician are coming together in a new comic book and TV cartoon series. The star is being turned into a superhero by comics legend Stan Lee in new satirical series The Governator.
Schwarzenegger recently left office as the Governor of California.
He told Entertainment Weekly: "When I ran for Governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about 'The Governator' I thought the words was so cool. And [the cartoon] brings everything together. It combines The Governor, The Terminator, the bodybuilding world, the True Lies..."
Lee, who was a co-creator of Spider-Man, added: "The Governator is going to be a great superhero, but he'll also be Arnold Schwarzenegger. We're using all the personal aspects of Arnold's life. We're using his wife. We're using his kids. We're using the fact that he used to be Governor."
He added: "Only after he leaves the Governor's office, Arnold decides to become a crime fighter and builds a secret high-tech crime-fighting centre under his house in Brentwood."
The Governator will have a fleet of supervehicles and supersuits at his disposal. He will do battle with evil organisation Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars and Irredeemable Ex-cons (GIRLIE Men).
Schwarzenegger added: "I love the idea of a control centre below my house with a path so that boats and submarines can go right into the ocean. In the cartoon, my house is much closer to the beach than where we live, but, you know, it's a cartoon."
The series is expected to start next year.
