Ashton Kutcher to play Steve Jobs in biopic

A second movie about the life of the Apple founder is in the works

Ashton Kutcher to play Steve Jobs in biopic

Ashton Kutcher has signed on to play Steve Jobs in a forthcoming biopic.

The star is attached to play the lead in Jobs, based on the life of the late Apple founder, to be directed by Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) from a script by Matt Whiteley.

Variety reports that the film will follow Jobs from his early life as a wayward hippie to co-founding the computer giant and becoming one of the most iconic entrepreneurs of the modern age.

Production on the film is slated to start in May, when Kutcher is on hiatus from Two And A Half Men, in which he took the lead role following Charlie Sheen's departure last year.

Jobs is not the only biopic of the Apple boss in the works. Sony Pictures are working on their own, adapted from Walter Isaacson's bestselling biography. However, it looks like Kutcher and Stern's version will arrive first. Jobs died last year following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kutcher was most recently seen in Gary Marshall's New Year's Eve and No Strings Attached.
