BBC announces 'Luther' series three in special YouTube video - watch
Idris Elba's obsessive detective is returning for four new episodes
A third series of Luther is to begin filming this month (November 2012).
The return of Idris Elba's obsessive detective was confirmed in a special video message uploaded to the BBC YouTube channel. You can watch the video at the bottom of this article.
The video features written captions alongside pictures of Elba and co-star Ruth Wilson. It announces: "We start shooting in November. To create something as brilliant as Luther takes time. But it will be worth the wait. There will be four, perfectly dark, chillingly-formed episodes."
However, the video plays it coy about the return of Wilson's character Alice Morgan. "Is Alice coming back?" a caption asks, before a cryptic response comes: "Only Alice knows."
The first series of Luther ran for six episodes on BBC One in 2010, followed by a second series of four episodes last year. The show has also been a hit in the US, where Elba won a Golden Globe earlier this year for his performance in the title role. Meanwhile, it has recently been reported that Elba could become the next James Bond.
