BBC One has released a new trailer for the series premiere of Doctor Who.

Titled 'The Magician's Apprentice', the series premiere is the first episode of a two-part story written by showrunner Steven Moffat and filmed in Tenerife earlier this year. Hettie McDonald, who previously directed classic 2007 episode 'Blink', was behind the camera on both episodes.

'The Magician's Apprentice' will air on BBC One on September 19, followed by the second part, which is titled 'The Witch's Familiar', on September 26.

Alongside Peter Capaldi's Doctor and Jenna Coleman's companion Clara Osward, the episodes will feature the return of Michelle Gomez's Missy, the current incarnation of the Master, as well as guest star Jemma Redgrave as a character called Kate Stewart.

Meanwhile, it has recently been announced that Alex Kingston's River Song will be returning for this year's Doctor Who Christmas special. Kingston's time-travelling Professor has appeared in 15 episodes of the cult BBC One series since 2008, but this will mark the first time she has appeared on screen with Peter Capaldi's Doctor.
