Ben Stiller making 'Zoolander 2'

Script handed in for sequel to 2001 comedy

Ben Stiller has confirmed that he is set to make a sequel to Zoolander.

Stiller co-wrote, directed and starred in the 2001 comedy, which focused on a male model, Derek Zoolander, being brainwashed into attempting to assassinate a political figure.

r /> He told told Empire: "We've completed the script - we being [co-writer] Justin Theroux and I - and handed it into the studio."

He added: "Now the studio has the script and we're at that point where we're waiting to see what they want to do. It's 10 years later, and most of it is set in Europe."

The actor went on to suggest that Owen Wilson, who played Zoolander's nemesis-turned-sidekick Hansel in the original film, may make a return in the new movie.

"It's basically Derek and Hansel 10 years later," he said, "though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they're not really relevant anymore. It's a new world for them."

He added that Will Ferrell, who played evil fashion label boss Mugatu, may also return. "He's written into the script and he's expressed interest in doing it," he said. "I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way."
