Benedict Cumberbatch to appear on new Röyksopp mix album
The 'Sherlock' actor recites a spoken word track on the electro duo's 'Late Night Tales' compilation
Benedict Cumberbatch makes a somewhat unlikely appearance on a new mix album by Royksopp.
The Norwegian electro duo have followed in the footsteps of Arctic Monkeys, Flaming Lips, MGMT and more by assembling a mix album for the 'Late Night Tales' series. Their selections include tracks by artists as varied as XTC, Vangelis and John Martyn, but as is the way on 'Late Night Tales' albums, the mix ends with a spoken word track.
This time, it's Sherlock star Cumberbatch reading the second half of a short story called 'Flat Of Angles' by Australian author Simon Cleary. The actor read the story's first half on a 'Late Night Tales' compilation by Friendly Fires that came out last November (2012).
Since Sherlock became an international hit for the BBC, Cumberbatch has been increasingly in demand. As well as playing the villain in Star Trek Into Darkness, he has roles in several upcoming films, including Meryl Streep vehicle August: Osage County and The Fifth Estate, in which he appears as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. On top of his big screen work, he's currently filming the third series of Sherlock with co-star Martin Freeman.
In the meantime, Röyksopp's 'Late Night Tales' mix album will be released on June 16.
