'Bourne' director Paul Greengrass to make FC Barcelona film
Greengrass working on documentary titled 'Barca' about world-famous football club
BAFTA-winning director Paul Greengrass is working on a documentary about iconic Spanish football team FC Barcelona, according to reports.
The LA Times says that Greengrass, who directed both The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum in addition to films such as United 93 and Green Zone, will begin work on Barca later this summer.
Greengrass is said to have been granted unusual access to the club and its players for the flick, which will follow the world-famous outfit as they prepare for the 2012/2013 football season following the departure of their previous manager Pep Guardiola and the loss of their domestic league title to arch-rivals Real Madrid.
The documentary will also be edited by Chris King, who won a BAFTA for his work on the 2011 sports film Senna, and is expected to be released in 2014.
The next instalment in the Jason Bourne franchise, The Bourne Legacy, will be released in the UK on August 17 2012. Jeremy Renner will play the lead role – a new agent with origins similar to the original Bourne – after Matt Damon decided not to return to the series. Greengrass, who also chose not to return to the franchise, will be replaced by Tony Gilroy.
