Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announce engagement
But Hollywood couple have not set a date for their wedding
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have announced they are engaged to be married. The Hollywood A-list couple, who have been together since 2005, confirmed the engagement through a spokeswoman, reports BBC News.
The pair have not yet set a date for the wedding, describing the engagement as a "promise for the future". They have six children together, three of whom are adopted.
Pitt has been married once previously, to actress Jennifer Aniston, from whom he split in 2005. Meanwhile, Jolie has been previously married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
The couple are known for championing humanitarian causes and have set up a number of charitable organisations, including the Jolie-Pitt Foundation. Jolie became a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 2001.
Pitt is due to star in zombie movie World War Z later this year, along with crime drama Killing Them Softly. Meanwhile, Jolie's last major screen role came in 2010's The Tourist, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actress. She also voiced a character in 2011 animation Kung Fu Panda 2.
