Bradley Cooper joins 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' cast
Actor will voice Rocket Raccoon in superhero flick
Bradley Cooper has been confirmed as the latest cast member of Marvel's new superhero ensemble movie Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Entertainment Wise reports that Cooper will voice the character Rocket Raccoon, a machine gun-toting mammal. Speaking about his addition to the cast, Marvel have released a statement which says: "In the far reaches of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an unlikely cast of characters including Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket Raccoon must join forces to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. Directed by James Gunn, the live-action Guardians of the Galaxy will take fans to new corners of the Marvel Universe when it hits theaters August 1, 2014."
Director James Gunn began shooting Guardians of The Galaxy in London last month (July). The film centres on a team of superheroes – including Star-Lord, Drax The Destroyer and Rocket Raccoon – who appear in a 2008 comic book series of the same name. Marvel is hoping the film will kickstart another big screen franchise like The Avengers.
The film's bumper cast also includes John C Reilly, Benicio del Toro, Parks And Recreations actor Chris Pratt and former Doctor Who assistant Karen Gillan. Marvel has set a release date of August 1, 2014. It was also recently rumoured that Vin Diesel was in talks to be part of the film as a tree-like alien creature.
