Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen in talks for Gareth Edwards' 'Godzilla' reboot
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has already been confirmed as the lead
Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen are reportedly in talks to join Gareth Edwards' Godzilla reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
If a deal goes through they will join leading man Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who's recently been seen in Anna Karenina and will next appear in Kick-Ass 2.
The Shawshank Redemption screenwriter Frank Darabont is currently revising the script, which has already had input from Man Of Steel's David S. Goyer and Iron Man 3's Drew Pearce but the plot details are yet to be released.
According to unconfirmed reports Cranston would play Taylor-Johnson’s step-father and Olsen his girlfriend. The report has also said to "expect plenty of monsters", hinting that Godzilla won't be the only villain in this film.
Cranston is the star of popular TV series Breaking Bad but has also starred in recent films such as Total Recall, Rock Of Ages and Oscar-nominated Argo. Elizabeth Olsen's is the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and has most recently starred in Very Good Girls opposite Dakota Fanning.
At Comic-Con 2012 attendees were shown a teaser for Godzilla and when asked about the reboot Edwards said: "We're going to take it seriously. If this really happened, what would it be like? It's very grounded [and] realistic."
The last Godzilla film was the 1998 adaptation starring Matthew Broderick and Maria Pitillo. The new Godzilla is set for a March production start and will hit UK cinemas on 16 May 2014.
