Carey Mulligan to star in new Coen Brothers movie

Carey Mulligan has signed up to play the lead in the new Coen Brothers movie.

The new project from the True Grit directors, Inside Llewyn Davis, focuses on a musician trying to make it in in 1960s New York

Mulligan is to play the female lead opposite Oscar Isaac in the movie, according to Deadline. Shooting is expected to start in Februart, after Mulligan finishes work on the new adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. It will be a third music-based project for Mulligan, after singing in Steve McQueen's new film Shame.

After Inside Llewyn Davis, the British star already has another project lined up, as she is expected to take the lead opposite Joaquin Phoenix in a new Spike Jonze film concerning world leaders meeting up to discuss cataclysmic events.

Mulligan recently became engaged to Marcus Mumford.
