Chris Hemsworth, Michael Mann team up for cyber-thriller movie

The 'Public Enemies' director will helm the film featuring the 'Thor' actor

Chris Hemsworth, Michael Mann team up for cyber-thriller movie

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth is partnering up with director Michael Mann for a new cyber-thriller movie.

The film will be Mann's first feature-length movie since 2009's Public Enemies. His most recent directorial outing was helming the pilot episode of HBO's failed horse-racing drama Luck.

According to Variety, Mann has been developing the film, which is being made for Legendary Pictures, for over a year with script co-writer Morgan Davis Foeh (Mass Effect). Plot details are currently unknown, although the film is said to take place in "a world of cyber threats and attacks".

There is currently no production date set, but with Steve Spielberg's Robopocalypse being delayed for the foreseeable future and the sequel to Snow White And The Hunstman stalling, it looks likely that Hemsworth will have space to begin filming later this year.

Hemsworth can next be seen in Ron Howard's Rush, which is due out in Cinemas in September (2013). The Australian actor has recently been shooting Thor 2. The sequel will see his hammer-wielding hero do battle with a villain called Malekith The Accursed, played by former Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston. Subtitled Thor: The Dark World, the film is scheduled for release on November 8.
