Colin Farrell in line to star in 'Total Recall' remake
Irish actor may replace Arnold Schwarzenegger
Colin Farrell has reportedly been offered the role of Douglas Quaid, originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the remake of sci-fi action film Total Recall. The Irish actor, star of In Bruges and Crazy Heart, was offered the part last week (beginning November 8) and is currently in negotiations over the role, reports Variety.com.
The film, which will begins production in March 2011, will be directed by Live Free Or Die Hard director Len Wiseman. The script will be written by Kurt Wimmer.
Paul Verhoeven directed the original movie in 1990, which was based on novelist Philip K Dick's story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale. Sharon Stone also starred.
The story concerns a construction worker, Quaid, who turns out to be a freedom fighter from Mars who has been relocated to Earth. It is set in 2084.
Michel Fassbender and Tom Hardy were also reportedly considered for the role of Quaid.
