'Community''s Ken Jeong to star in own medical sitcom 'Dr Ken'
Ben Chang and Leslie Chow actor is actually a licensed physician in the state of California
Community and The Hangover star Ken Jeong has landed his own sitcom.
Jeong will star in and executive produce Dr Ken, a new medical comedy for US network NBC, Deadline reports.
Jeong is best known for his roles as Ben Chang on Community and Leslie Chow in The Hangover trilogy but before pursuing a comedy career he completed a medical degree and is actually a licensed physician in the state of California. Dr Ken will draw from Jeong's pre-showbiz life as a medical man and a pilot episode is being written by The Internship's Jared Stern.
If NBC decides to proceed with a full season of Dr Ken, and Community is renewed again for a sixth season next year, Jeong seems to have hinted that he would try to juggle work on both shows. Shortly after posting a link to a news story about Dr Ken, Jeong wrote on his Facebook page: "I will never leave Community. I will always Chang the world."
Meanwhile, season five of Community is set to begin on NBC early next year (2014). Donald Glover has reduced his role on the show and will appear in just five of the 13 new episodes but Jeong, Joel McHale, Alison Brie and Danny Pudi will all be back for the full run.
